Creating New Custom Class Styles

Is there an option within the Yellow Pencil interface to create new custom CSS classes? I have a long article that I'd like to add various typographic treatments to, such as a dropcap, a quote/callout, etc. But when I try to change the style for just one paragraph for example, it changes all the <p> tags on the page; what I want to do is be able to select just the first paragraph, and apply a new class to it to make it larger than the rest of the text. Or do I actually need to manually add the tags in the HTML, as well as the CSS reference in the CSS editor?

    Hi there,

Yellow Pencil assigns CSS to element you choose. So like you told, if you edit p tag (paragraph) it will make changes for every p tag.

YP can't add classes to HTML, you need to add class to element you want to style (for example one word in whole paragraph). And then you can style it with YP.

    Best regards!

Thank you! Just curious, is it possible that the ability to add new classes/ids to HTML will be added at some point? Seems like it would save quite a lot of time from having to exit out of YP and go back into the backend default WP editor just to add a tag...

We've got couple questions on that subject, and perhaps in some future update we'll add it, but for now we won't.

We've discussed about it and doing that would cause a lot of errors. This plugin usage is primary for CSS changes, and CSS doesn't allow adding classes to HTML code.

On the other hand there are builders for pages which allow users to easily add classes which you can style later with YP.
